SMTD Law LLP partner Jonathan Dunn will be discussing Mechanics’ Lien and Discharge Bonds at the December 14, 2022 National Association of Surety Bond Producers Virtual Seminar. The seminar will start at 11:00am.
Owners, developers and lenders always want to make sure that any liens placed against real property are addressed to ensure clear title and no impediments to project financing. One means by which mechanic’s liens can be addressed are through the use of lien discharge bonds. During this NASBP Virtual Seminar, we are joined by attorneys Jonathan Dunn of SMTD Law LLP and Derek Popeil of Chubb who will provide a summary overview of the national law applicable to mechanics’ lien discharge bonds, including the nature and purpose of lien discharge bonds, the scope of the surety’s liability, the surety’s defenses, and the surety’s subrogation and contribution rights related to lien discharge bonds.
